The EMU Intelligent Inspection System Application Project Jointly Developed by DITT and Changzhou Metro Passes Expert Review

On August 30, 2025, Changzhou Metro Group held the "Changzhou Metro Line 1 EMU Intelligent Inspection System Expert Review Meeting" at the Baizhang Depot. The review panel consisted of nine experts from rail transit operators, industry associations, and universities across the country. Zhu Zhihong, Deputy General Manager of Changzhou Metro Group, and relevant operations officials attended the meeting.


The expert panel heard reports on the project’s technical solution and application results. Targeting the pain points of traditional manual inspection, the Line 1 EMU intelligent inspection system innovatively applies "AI vision + multi-sensor fusion" technology, successfully achieving intelligent and precise detection of five major categories of key items — such as loose or missing fasteners — on the underfloor and sides of EMUs. By selecting task trains and setting simulated faults, the panel rigorously verified the system’s performance in detection accuracy, false-alarm rate, miss rate, stability, and safety. After deliberation, the panel unanimously agreed that the system effectively solves problems such as the inefficiency and missed detections of traditional inspection; it is technologically advanced and reliable, meets the daily inspection requirements of EMUs, and was approved to pass acceptance.

Since March 27, 2025, Changzhou Metro Line 1 has carried out four-day-inspection trial operations based on the intelligent inspection robot. By August 25, 2025, Line 1 had completed a cumulative 655 train-times of robotic inspection. The intelligent inspection system achieved a fault detection rate of ≥96%, a train-number recognition rate of ≥99.9%, and a zero miss-report rate, performing well under real-world testing. Meanwhile, an innovation pilot for maintenance procedures and systems was advanced in parallel, and Line 1 has now completed 788 train-times of four-day-inspection trial maintenance. The system enables automatic detection, intelligent analysis, and fault diagnosis in daily maintenance, along with data fusion and data sharing, improving EMU O&M quality and safeguarding EMU operational safety — laying a technical foundation for future full-life-cycle health management of key components through big-data analysis.

In the next phase, Changzhou Metro will continue to optimize operational efficiency through refined management, accelerate the deep integration of cutting-edge industry technologies, and take technological innovation as a key engine to ensure smooth and orderly operations. DITT will likewise keep improving system performance and ensuring system reliability and safety, providing technical and service support for the continued advancement of Changzhou Metro’s operational intelligence.
